The Age of Rembrandt exhibition at Vienna’s Albertina brings together 150 works by 70 artists from the Golden Age of Netherlands art.
The 17th century saw Holland enjoying long periods of economic prosperity and creative innovation, with its trade links flourishing and its wealthy citizens becoming vigorous patrons of the arts.
The artists of the era focused their attentions on domestic scenes, cityscapes, portraits, still lifes and maritime views.
The Albertina’s extensive collection of 17th-century Dutch artworks forms the basis of the exhibition, focusing on the work of Rembrandt Van Rijn from 1620 to 1660.
