bmi takes British route at Heathrow

bmi’s new lounge at Heathrow Terminal One has a distinctly British feel, complete with an Aga, chairs by designer Tom Dixon, pints of bitter and rhubarb crumble-flavoured ice cream.

The lounge is open to bmi business class, Diamond Club (Gold and Silver) and Star Alliance Gold customers and is divided into suitably themed sections.

These include the Study – for those keen to use their laptops and get online – and the Café – home of that Aga and somewhere passengers can have an evening meal prior to boarding their flight, so they can focus on rest and relaxation as soon as they’re aboard.

The pub-inspired bar has been dubbed ‘the Local’, and features leather armchairs, London Pride ale and even an English wine or two.

There’s also a freezer with an array of ice creams. In keeping with the overall British theme flavours include Dorset honey, rhubarb crumble and ‘credit crunch’ – a concoction of caramel and chocolate.
